About Blue Star Ferries

Blue Star Ferries goes back to Strintzis Lines, the company the Strintzis family from Kefalonia founded in 1965. In 1999 the Attica Group agreed to buy into Strintzis Lines and rebranded it as Blue Star Ferries, at the time with ten ferries on Greek coastal routes and between Greece and Italy. Today the brand is one of the Attica Group's four ferry companies alongside Superfast Ferries, Hellenic Seaways and ANEK Lines, which merged into the group in 2023; the group operates 33 vessels to more than 70 ports in Greece and Italy. Blue Star's own network is the Aegean, from Piraeus to the Cyclades, the Dodecanese and the northeast Aegean islands. On the Adriatic, the group's Italy - Greece lines from Venice, Ancona and Bari are Superfast's - and the weekly Corfu - Venice sailing is sold under the Blue Star name and sailed by two Superfast ships, with Superfast's Adriatic port procedures.

The ships between Corfu and Venice

The Superfast III, built in 2000, and the Superfast IV of 2001 are sister ships: 204 metres long and 29 metres wide, 1,850 passengers, 808 and 710 berths respectively, garages of 2,553 and 2,576 lane metres and a service speed of 30 knots. Both carry inside and outside cabins, cabins for passengers with reduced mobility, pet cabins and kennels, a self-service and an à la carte restaurant, café-bars and an open-deck bar, a kids' corner, a gift shop and Wi-Fi; the Superfast III also has a casino and a telemedicine service. On a crossing of about 25 hours a cabin is the sensible choice.

Routes from this site

Corfu - Venice is the only Blue Star route on this site: about 25 hours 15 minutes from the New Port in Corfu Town to the Terminal Fusina Ferries on the mainland shore of the Venetian lagoon, one sailing a week in the 2026 season, with parts of the autumn timetable revised. Superfast Ferries also lists Corfu on its Ancona and Bari lines; those calls are in the timetable when they run.

Check-in, vehicles and pets

Check-in is compulsory and issues the boarding cards. In Corfu the operator recommends two hours before departure for passengers and vehicles; check-in closes 30 minutes before sailing, and for the Adriatic lines the travel documents are checked at the port office before boarding, so every passenger, children included, needs a valid passport or identity card. Web check-in delivers the e-ticket from 48 hours up to two hours before departure; tickets collected at the port agencies are picked up at least three hours before sailing. The Corfu agent for the Bari and Venice lines sits at 22 Ethnikis Antistaseos street in the New Port. Motorhomes keep the LPG or gas supply closed during the crossing; electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles are declared at booking and may board with a battery charge of no more than 40 per cent, LPG or natural gas vehicles with the tank at most half full. Pets are registered in the booking, need valid health documents - for EU citizens the EU pet passport with rabies vaccination - and travel in one of the few kennels or pet cabins, both reserved in advance; they are not allowed indoors and wear a muzzle and lead on the open decks. Certified assistance dogs stay with their owner.

Tickets

The fare is per passenger by accommodation, from deck passage and seats to cabins, with the vehicle and pet on top; reduced fares need the proving document at check-in and boarding. Cancellations are refunded in full up to several weeks before departure, then in steps down to half the fare, and not at all within 24 hours of sailing or after a no-show.
